Harris, who was once employed on the Progress here and who is well known by many of our citizens, had written to Attorney General Mc-Clurg to engage his services in a suit against the city of San Antonio for illegal arrest and imprisonment. He is visiting San Antonio with" a sick brother for the benefit of the vi tetter's health and was suspected of fceing one of the robbers who raided a bank in Montana recently.

--4 Mr. A. L. Dabney recently captured a monster rattlesnake which is on exhibition at the levee board office. His snakeship is undergoing a fattening process, and when this is 'accomplished, Mr.

Dabney will have it prepared and will invite several of his friends to join him in a snake supper. Two years ago Mr. Dabney gave quite an elaborate supper to a number of friends at Luehrmann's in Memphis. the chief delicacy of the supper being broiled rattlesnake, which was pro nounced a happy medium between a frog's leg and spring chicken by those who had the nerve to partake of iL Clarksdale Register. Fleming, of Chatham, Canada, is the the guest of the family of her cousin, Mr. T. W. Ford. Miss Dixie Williams was re-elected music teacher of the Winona Graded school for the next term.

Mr. J. T. Gunter returned this week irom Jackson, where he has been attending Millsaps College. Miss Pearl Darden returned Tuesday from a visit to relatives in Clinton, Winona, and Kilmichael.

He was found guilty of a misdemeanor and a fine of $50 was assessed against him. The case was appealed. Protracted meetinsr began last night at the Baptist church and will continue all next week. Our Baptist brethren were fortunate enough to secure the services of Rev. J.

R. Nutt, of one of the leading young ministers of the state, and Prof. J. A. Bell to conduct the singing.

A pump has been ordered by the town council for the artesian piping between the depot and the business houses. Several of our people attended ihe colored people's children's day at the Cross Roads Sunday and report a nice time. The doctors around here are having but little to do. Guess they are getting discouraged. Some of the boys enjoyed a musir cal entertainment at J. M.

McCain's Saturday night. Oscar Waits and wife visited the latter's parents Saturday night. J. M. McCain is buying np a carload of cattle for shipment.
